How chiropractic care can help migraines or headaches.
First, let’s understand what migraines and headaches are.
Headaches can occur differently in different people. Some may experience headaches a few times a month, once a week, a few times a week, and in severe cases, daily. These aches are a sign that the body is functioning abnormally and are common in our population. According to several National Headache Societies, 40% of the population is affected by headaches.
Two of the most common types of headaches are migraines and tension headaches. Frequently, migraines are associated with vascular control in the head, whereas tension headaches typically involve bilateral tension on both sides of the head. In most cases, patients may feel the pain originating from their forehead. Often headaches occur from muscular contraction in the head region and shoulder.
Migraines are often unilateral (one-sided) and can manifest with tension in the tops of their heads, a piercing or searing pain in their eye, and some may even have visual disturbances. People experiencing migraines can also experience sensitivity to light and noise and may only find mild relief by retreating to a completely dark, quiet room.
There is quite a range in how long tension headaches or migraines can last, from a few hours on the short end to sometimes even up to 3-5 days.
Why do we get migraines?
These three forms of stress can trigger this condition:
- Physical stress, such as workplace conditions, accidents, or poor sleep
- Biochemical stress which can be poor nutrition, alcohol, smoking
- Mental or emotional stress triggered by life and relationships
How does chiropractic care help?
Chiropractic care helps bring your body back into balance, allowing it to regulate, heal, and function as it should. At Life Aligned Wellness Center in Tucson, we specialize in providing effective relief for migraines and headaches, helping you regain control of your life. Regular chiropractic care not only reduces symptoms and pain significantly but can ultimately solve the problem for good.
In traditional medicine, when there is a symptom, a lot of times, they prescribe varying degrees of medications, from simple painkillers to antidepressants and seizure medications. As chiropractors, we start by providing a gentle, non-invasive, and non-addictive treatment known as a chiropractic adjustment.
This treatment is designed to bring the body back into balance by ensuring the central nervous system functions properly. Many people are pleasantly surprised by how easy, non-invasive, and comfortable the first adjustment can be. After receiving an adjustment, the body becomes more capable of adapting and healing, ultimately returning to a state of normal functioning.
Giving the nervous system the support it needs to function better can reduce or even eliminate headaches.
